Read MoreIn a world where opportunities often seem out of reach for many, Geeta's story shows us how education paves a way to success. Her journey was marked by resilience, determination, and the unwavering support of Child Rights and You UK (CRY UK), a charity dedicated to ensuring children's rights and education.
Overcoming Adversity
Geeta's pursuit of education was filled with challenges right from the start. Following her father's death, her family struggled with financial issues. With her mother and brothers earning meager wages as daily laborers, affording even basic necessities became difficult, let alone the expenses required for education. Despite these hardships, Geeta's thirst for knowledge burned brightly.
Initially, financial constraints forced Geeta to drop out of school during her early years. However, the intervention of the CRY project team was a turning point for her. They facilitated her admission to a free boarding school where she resumed her studies from classes 1 to 6. She was also encouraged to get re- enrolled in class 7.
Resilience and Continued Support
Geeta's path was not without its obstacles. Pressure from her family to marry following high school completion added another layer of complexity. However, Geeta chose to prioritize her education over societal expectations. With CRY's consistent support, she successfully completed her higher secondary education and is now pursuing her B.A.
Inspiring Change
Geeta's journey is a story of hope for her community. Her unwavering determination has inspired 43 girls who are now preparing to pursue higher education.
